super sunday sync blog hop #3.
Sunday. It's that time again. Are you ready for some football blog hoppin'?
Ha. Yes I realize that sounded totally dumb.
But yes, you best be ready for some football too. Because that's what's done on Sundays in the fall.

But yes, you best be ready for some football too. Because that's what's done on Sundays in the fall.
Anyways, for another fun-filled week I'm joining Dawn from Dawn's Disaster to co-host her
{totally awesome} blog hop, Super Sunday Sync!
So GO! Link up, help spread the word, and get ready to meet some fab new friends!

----------------------------------
Last week we were SO close to making our goal! Let's fire up the burners and try again! This week's goal is 40. I think we'll make this one :) Also, don't forget to mark your calendars for the Candle Swap {hosted by me and Danielle at Unorganized Chaos X3} starting October 26, 2012!
Kera from Nugget On A Budget is co-hosting Super Sunday Sync again, a BIG thanks goes out to her!
Rules for the "Super-est" hop ever:
1) Link up a family-friendly post (or your homepage if it will always be decent) that you think is SUPER!
3) Visit a few blogs, {the more, the merrier} and follow them. We're all looking to have more followers, that's why we're hopping, right? Remember to leave a comment and we'll follow you back.
4) Grab a button and put it somewhere people will see. I'd love for this hop to really take off and be a weekly event!
Dumb, but I keep putting along, anyway...
Homage to the neighbor's very strange guinea hens. He has a whole flock of them, really strange looking birds that have an equally strange call, and can make quite a racket when they want to. I was getting my mail the other day and they followed me home. Chicken Master came out, yelled "get out of the street!", and they all hustled back onto the lawn. Honestly, it's a circus around our neighborhood these days. Or maybe Old MacDonald Farm time, as there are chickens (and a frenetic little rooster) all around me. Couple of goats, too. And then there are the turkeys who stroll by regularly. Sweet.

birthday giveaway! part 2.
First, a big thank you to all of you lovelies who participated in the first part of my birthday giveaway extravaganza a few weeks ago. We had a great turnout!
This week's giveaway is even sweeter--meaning more prizes, more chances to win, and multiple winners. Getting interested, aren't you? Read on.
This giveaway is serving as a kickoff to the little crazy one's first birthday week.
I know I speak for all mommies here--how can she be turning ONE already? Little bald baby is turning into a toddler with a big personality and an even bigger love for adventure {into seeing how many tissues she can shred and how much dog food she can eat before Mommy notices.}
So. I've got a few awesome things to give away here. Approved by the queen of the house, obviously.
One month free ad space at The Chirping Moms.
When these super mamas aren't running after their chicks, they're running an amazingly fun and successful blog. Tons of great giveaways and adorable kid-friendly product reviews. If you're a mama, or have any special littles in your life, you probably need to check them out.
A must-have book for ALL parents.
Courtney and Julie from The Chirping Moms also donated this fantastic parenting book, The giggle Guide to Baby Gear {by Ali Wing}. It features handy checklists that let you know what to buy, when to buy it, taking the guesswork out of shopping for baby {and saving you some moolah}.
So, get to it. And I'll promise to love you forever and ever if you help spread the word.
Forever, people. That's a long time.
You can find me running around my house {and the entire town} trying to get everything in near-perfect condition for S's party tomorrow. I know she won't remember it, but I will, and I'll be able to show her photos and tell her how Mommy's head was about to explode. The things we do for our kiddies.
G'head. Start entering! And may the odds be ever in your favour.

Tip: How to Get MP3 Files from Soundcloud
i don't remember where i cut & pasted this from...
fyi - the raw mp3 file is usually only 128kbps though.
______________________________________________________________________
There's a easy way to get the raw mp3 or wave from soundcloud, just follow the instructions below
[This works for firefox, I don't know about other browsers]
1. Go to the soundcloud page with the song you want.
2. Right Click "View Page Source" [Don't do it on the actual waveform, just above or below it]
3. When the source page comes up press (Ctrl-F) and type in the find box [ media.soundcloud ]
4. That will then take you to the stream URL. It looks like this [ http://media.soundcloud.com/stream/v...am_token=99KRA ]
Highlight and copy.
5. then paste the copied url in the address bar of your browser and it should let you download the song.

i'm guessing most people have this one already but if you don't...
i'm now a real part of the blogging world.
I did it. Took the plunge. Jumped on the bandwagon. A bazillion years after everyone else, but still.
I'm legit at last.
I bought an iPhone.
Not even the iPhone 5, mind you. I don't have that kind of money. Heck, I really don't even have the money to buy the 4S. I was happy to settle for the 4 at the price tag of free.
But alas, our huge local AT&T store sold out of them {duh} by the time I finally decided that yes, I probably should have a new phone that fits my new {wannabe} creative super-mommy lifestyle.
My trusty BlackBerry only fit in when I was an accountant from Washington DC. No business person living there would've been caught DEAD with an iPhone. And I swore I would never become one of those people.
iPhones, schmiphones.
iPhones, schmiphones.
But here I am. A blogging, DIY-obsessed, stay-at-home mama living in the 'burbs with a husband, dog, and baby. Owner of an iPhone and adoring that little white rectangle already. How much I've changed.
What about that old BlackBerry?
S will be delighted to know that she can now play with "baby" and not even get in trouble.

wordless wednesday.
So I'm switching it up and doing a Wordless Wednesday. Kinda. Lord knows I could never just slap a photo on here without any words.
This one's called, "no one puts baby in the corner". Baby puts herself in the corner.
And she really did. Climbed in the Bumbo all by herself.
Of course then she complained to mommy because she couldn't get herself out.

The daily double...
Some things are just easy, like this. I spent about an hour from start to finish, now think this is all she wrote, done. I think it is about being in the zone. Don't know how I got there, just really happy when it happens. And I got pretty much what I envisioned, though a couple of little accidents did something really special as I went along. Portraits of animals are just so engaging for me. I fall in love with every one of them, even the ones that don't succeed. Every one teaches me something valuable. Here I learned to look more deeply into my subject, but not complicate the work. Simple, but not flat. Sweet but not cute. Exaggerated in some places, understated in others, and that was pretty much about being on automatic pilot. HP guided my hand, for sure. Love it. Now. That could change after further perusal. I am nothing if not fickle.
just a weekend at the cabin.
With no cell service and no internet. This place is as secluded as it gets up in those PA forests.
By forests I mean Penn's Woods. aka Pennsylvania. After William Penn, founder. Betcha didn't know that. Unless of course you grew up in Pennsylvania.
But let's get back to no service. I'm super anal about responding promptly to emails and comments and staying on top of my blog--so yeah. No service. I was going just a little bit crazy.
But alas, by Sunday I was reading magazines {who does this anymore?}, shooting guns, riding ATVs.
Drinking Octoberfest. But not while partaking in the shooting or riding events, of course.
I DO have a daughter to think about.
And baby girl had her first experience with the true meaning of being a country girl.
As long as she had that empty water jug to play with.
Guess I could get used to being disconnected for a few days.
Sorry for the appearance of a beer can/bottle in just about every photo. I blame it on Hubs :)

One pissed off Pickle and one pesky Punkin...
Pickle is peeved. Even though we dodged this bullet for a long, long time, we got FLEAS. Nuts. And Pickle ate the fur off her rump, so off we went to the vet for a buttload of medications, for both the poopies. Pickle is not the trooper her big brother was. Boo would have worn that blasted collar for the rest of his life if I asked him to. But Pickle moped. I picked her up and put her outside. Half hour later, she was still sitting where I set her down. Sigh. And Punkin is so worried, he makes all kind of really obnoxious noises, sort of like the kind the smoke detector makes when its battery is dying, little supersonic bleeps that sear the eardrums. And he did this the whole first night of this ordeal, too. Really, he is just worried about his big sister. He sits by her and whines a lot, too. Keeping him in the bedroom with me just meant he could only bother ME. So, I let him sleep out in the general population last night so I could get some rest. Owies do heal, and the collar will go back into the closet for the next time. Just hoping it will be the Punk when it happens. Life would be a lot quieter. Meanwhile, major milestone, Pickle got herself, collar and all, out the dog door, and back in again. Small miracle, that.
it's official...
My Etsy Shop is now open!
After about a month of waiting around, deciding if I can really do it, if people would really buy my stuff {basically being a wimp in general}--I'm ready to get down to business.
So here it is, folks. Inspired by my little crazy nugget.
I started making headbands for my daughter two months after she was born--because let's face it, those store-bought things can cost more than the outfit to go with it! Ridic. I just had a baby. Diapers take precedence.
But I wanted her little bald head to look cute {cuter than it already was, anyway}. And I wanted people to stop referring to her as a boy. Boys don't wear dresses, people!
So. I started creating flowers for headbands out of those silk flowers you can buy at craft stores. I thought it would be even MORE budget-friendly to attach the flowers to clips so the flowers and headbands could be interchangeable. Or the flower could just be used as a hair clip. Two styles in one.
Other styles and ideas sprouted from there, and I'm now continually thinking of new designs. While I was pregnant, I used to be bored {what's that, right?}. Hubs told me to get a hobby. I showed him a better idea :)
So stop in, check it out, help spread the word!
{I'm offering free shipping to my first 25 customers. Email me for the coupon code!}
