I read a daily devotion for women called Girlfriends in God. The devotion for today talks about waiting. When we knock on God's door, we should wait for him to answer our knock, right? Well, he doesn't always answer very quickly and that waiting period is pretty hard and can even be scary. But he will answer you. My little girl is an answer God gave me after a period of waiting...and heartache...and waiting again. But I would never change that period of my life. The devotion says that if God doesn't answer your knocks right away, it does not mean that you should take matters into your own hands and open the door and walk through it. When God answers you, his answer is pure and perfect and you will be at peace.
Here is an excerpt from today's devotion that I felt compelled to share with you:
Have you ever prayed about a decision, not waited on God for the answer, and plowed ahead even though you felt unrest in your spirit?
What were the results?
Have you ever prayed about a decision, waited on God for the answer, and moved forward in total peace?
What were the results?
Regardless of the results of obedience, you can be assured that obedience always pleases God. He is more concerned with the process than the product.
S, when she was one day old. God's answer to a knock.
"Wait for the LORD; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the LORD." {Psalm 27:14}
