9-11.
I can't believe it's been eleven years since the attacks. Since I was sitting in my third period accounting class and the TV was turned on. And it wasn't turned off in any of my other classes, for the rest of the day. I can still remember how shocked and confused everyone was. And everything was so close. I lived in Pennsylvania, so only a few hours from each of the locations. Was this really happening? How could this be happening? Then the second plane hit and reality set in. It was frightening and heartbreaking.
Each year on the anniversary it doesn't get any easier to remember. All those innocent people who lost their lives and the thousands more who were affected--their families. Last year, eight months pregnant with S, I watched the 10th Anniversary Memorial and cried as loved ones remembered.
I consider each and every one of those people a hero. I know we all do. And I thank God that we live in America, who fought back with a vengeance, and continues to do so. Thank you to all those who work diligently to protect our country.
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." {Romans 12:21}
Never Forget.
